"Bet on yourself and expect to win, even in the face of failure." - Julian Mitchell

I’ll break down why I love this quote so much.
Bet on yourself = we think of betting as a risk right? but why bet on other things before we bet on ourselves? when you make a bet, you’re exhibiting a certain level of trust and commitment. you give away your commitment every single day to other people and spaces, it’s a great time to give it to yourself.
and expect to win = it’s super easy to have low expectations for everything and everyone these days, our daily social media consumption absolutely adds grease to that fire. so this part of the quote gives us an opportunity to shift our expectations towards better simply because we deserve. and it’s not just any ole expectation, it’s a specific expecation to WIN, reminding you that winning can look like whatever it is that you need in this season.
even in the face of failure = as someone who’s failed a few million times, I’ve learned this: we’ll never escape failure. it’s going to happen in some way. some times it’ll be a big failure, sometimes small, sometimes XL, etc. the expectation to always trust in ourselves no matter what life looks like in the moment, should always be present in our creative practices, our processes, and our overall lives.
root for yourself this week,
